Stage 1: Hydrolysis
The First Stage Involves The Breakdown Of Large Organic Molecules Into Smaller, Soluble Compounds Such As Organic Acids And Alcohols. Water (H2O) is a Critical Component For This Breakdown.
Stage 2: Acidogenesis And Acetogenesis
The Dissolved Organic Acids And Alcohols Undergo Further Breakdown. During This Phase, Organic Acids (Primarily Acetate), Co2 And Hydrogen Are Formed, Making These Compounds Available For Methanogenic Bacteria.
Stage 3: Methanogenesis
The Final Stage Involves Methanogenic Bacteria, Which Converts The Acetate And Other Intermediate Products Into Methane And Co2. This is The Critical Stage Where Biogas Is Generated.
